Is the first kathak dance drama, based on Srilankan story, staged by Anushka Kathak Dance Academy in 2017. This experimental dance performance brings out the flavor of love through the unique dance style of kathak.

A creative interpretation of the Sri Lankan love story – Daskon Pramila

‘Daskon Pramila’ is a romantic tragedy from Sri Lankan history. The story derives from a Kandyan folk tale which based on an incident took place in Senkadagala kingdom during the regime of King VeeraParakrama Narendrasinghe in the year 1707.

Prince Narendrasingha was a dominant youth, who was the heir to the throne after the sudden decease of his father, King Wimaladarmasuriya II. To be the king was not an easy task for the prince due to the revolutionary behavior of the superior ministers of the King’s council.

‘Pedro Gaskon’, the childhood friend of Narendrasinghe, helped the prince to overcome the obstacles to crowned as the King of  Senkadagalarealm. The King appointed Gaskon, who was named as Daskon later, as the chief minister of the King’s council as an appreciation for his yeoman service.

Beautiful Pramila was the beloved queen of the King Narendrasinghe.

Love knows No Boundaries, No distance. It has a sole intention of bringing people together for a time called ‘forever’.Daskon and Pramila secretly fell in eternal sanctuary of Love which led to a tragic end.
